Keep the units and quote terms aligned
The worksheet converts each supplier’s stated scoop capacity and your project volume to cubic feet before calculating. The NIST Handbook 44 unit table gives one cubic yard as 27 cubic feet. A scoop’s capacity still has to come from the particular supplier; it is not inferred from that conversion.
Each per-scoop quote is rounded independently to its entered minimum and purchase increment. For a fixed-total quote, the exact offered quantity and total are used as written; the quantity must cover the measured project. No price is extrapolated for a larger order. “Per required cu yd” divides the entered total by your measured project volume; it is a comparison aid, not a claim that the supplier sells that fraction of an order.
Use quotes for the same suitable material, destination, currency and tax basis. Check whether the price is current, whether delivery is included, and whether extra charges, discounts or unloading terms apply. This calculator does not contact suppliers, verify stock, convert currencies, add tax, judge product quality or choose a vendor.
Supplier examples and source limits
Scott’s Mulch’s material price page describes its scoop pricing by a two-thirds-cubic-yard scoop. The Feed Store’s landscape supply page describes its mulch scoop as 0.6 cubic yard and lists a separate delivery fee. These pages illustrate that sellers can define capacity and fees differently; their terms and prices are not prefilled here and may change. Confirm the current written quote before ordering.

Questions about supplier quotes
How big is one mulch scoop?
There is no scoop size entered for every supplier here. Use the capacity on each supplier’s current quote or product page; this calculator does not fill in a universal scoop size.
Can I compare a written total quote?
Yes. Choose Fixed total for a stated quantity, then enter the exact volume offered and its quoted total. The offered quantity must cover your measured project; the calculator does not scale the price to another quantity.
What if the quoted price includes delivery?
Enter 0 for the additional route fee when it is already included. Otherwise enter only the extra fee for that quote, so delivery is not counted twice.
Does the lowest total mean that mulch is the best choice?
No. The result compares entered quantities and prices only. Confirm that the products, quote dates, tax basis, delivery terms and suitability are comparable before choosing.
Can I compare quotes in different currencies?
No currency conversion is performed. Use quotes in the same currency and on the same tax basis, and enter one shared currency label.
Does this calculate how much mulch my beds need?
No. First measure the beds and calculate the required volume, then enter that result here to compare supplier order terms.
