How this mulch coverage calculator works
Choose the material category, enter every area you want to cover, and set the depth for each area. You can use feet and inches or meters and centimeters. The result combines all areas and shows cubic yards, cubic feet, cubic meters, bags, tons when a weight-per-yard value is supplied, and an optional cost estimate based on your own price.
Recommended starting depth
Each new area starts at 3 inches. Change it when your project calls for a different coverage depth.
Conversion rules
One cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. One foot is 0.3048 meters and one inch is 2.54 centimeters. Bag count is total cubic feet divided by the selected bag size. Tons require your material’s own tons-per-cubic-yard value.

How many bags of mulch do I need?
Choose the bag size printed on your product label: 1.5, 2, or 3 cubic feet. The result uses that selection for the bag estimate.
Can I calculate mulch in meters?
Yes. Switch an area to Metric and enter meters plus centimeters. You can mix metric and imperial areas in the same estimate.
How do I estimate the cost?
Choose a price basis and enter your own unit price. The calculator multiplies that price by the matching result.
